1. What is WanderWallet?

WanderWallet on their website define themselves as an app/service that helps travelers and expats pay like a local in Latin America using local payment rails, they also state that their goal is that you do not have to rely only on foreign cards, cash, or ATM headaches.

Currently covering three countries: Brazil, Argentina and Bolivia, they offer instant QR code payments (with PIX) as well as regular transfers, fairly quick deposits and within Argentina you are able to withdraw pesos from ATMs. They keep your money in

Their WhatsApp support hours: Mon–Fri, 8:00–18:00 (São Paulo / Buenos Aires time)

2. How to Deposit & Spend Money

Creating an account in WanderWallet app is pretty straightfoward, input your information like in other payments app, upload a document and do a scan of your face. Next you’ll choose one of the offered options to deposit your money into WanderWallet:

As you can see, on the left side I’ve put deposit options and on the right side you can see which payments you can do with WanderWallet, including QR payments with “Pay QR” option.

Here is me making a payment to my Banco Rendimento account, it took 14 seconds for my PIX payment to arrive and everything went fine. Exchange Rate 1 USD = 5.1653 BRL and a 0.20 USD WanderWallet fee, but we’ll discuss that further in the next section.

3. Conversion Rates & AI Comparison Score

So, let’s get down to conversion rates, here are the conversion rates from the WanderWallet website posted as of time I’m writing this post:

Although my blog posts are 100% human-written, I’ve used AI to see how WanderWallet compares to other payments apps such as Wise and Revolut and let it rate WanderWallet before I write my personal opinion in the next section, so let’s check out the comparison right here:

4. My Experience Using WanderWallet & LatamScore

As you can see I’m introducing LatamScore, a simple 1-5 scale where I’ll be leaving my personal opinion after reviewing apps and websites. WanderWallet will be the first one to receive a LatamScore and from there we’ll see how it goes, so without further ado:

LatamScore – Horizontal Layout
LatamScore
4.0/5
WanderWallet Verified Service Review

Great for local PIX payments, small 0.20 usd fee and decent exchange rates. No FGC protection, payment receipt quite basic and download option broken.
Final Conclusion: A decent app for basic payments, but not for large transfers.

Some suggestions I’d like to add:

  • Fixing the “Save Receipt to Device” button
  • Add description for payments and a PDF version to share/download
  • “Rate WanderWallet” button in the “Account” section – it doesn’t remember and open store, it asks every time which one I’ll use

Altogether, WanderWallet is a decent, simple app for quick PIX payments with minor things to be resolved, I’ll be updating this post once I test out their WhatsApp support, QR code payments in Brazil and ATM withdrawals in Argentina, so make sure to come back and check out the updates or even easier, subscribe to LatamGuide in the form that pops up at the top of your screen and we’ll notify you directly.

Coming to an end with this review, I want to say that there are several referral links for WanderWallet in this blog post and that I’ve decided that I’ll be donating 100% of the referral income to people in need in Latin America, you can follow the progress of donations in my second subreddit r/ImpactoBrasil & of course for more guides my main subreddit r/LatamGuide:
